Biography

Angelica Rodriguez is a thriving professional children's book illustrator. Her vast imagination and compelling sweet children's illustrations had growth her portfolio. Angelica had illustrated a considerable amount of children's books for authors in countries like Canada, UK, South Korea, and of course the United States, in the states of Georgia and New York. Additionally, she had illustrated her own authored book There Is a Princess in Every Girl; which is published in lulu.com. Angelica is currently working to expand her knowledge of art studying to achieve a BFA in Animation and Visual Effects at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA so that one day her current company Angelica Square, be able to expand from still illustration to traditionally animated films. She wishes to create a company that can be successful accomplishing those feelings she gets every time she sees a heartwarming and overwhelming story through a motion-picture and non- motion-picture, and within share and spread positive messages and bits of happiness that people can take home around the world.


Angelica was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico (USA territory) in October 30, 1990. It is said that as soon as she learned to sit down as a baby she quickly learn to take a pen and draw lines and circles. afterwards the circles became spiders and then the PowerPuffGirls. The moment she felt pride drawing her favorite cartoon, she knew she wanted to become an art teacher; not knowing that being an artist was also a "real job". Angelica became passionate in the arts field, learning how to draw, paint, sing and act. Eventually she also discovered a passion for her favorite sport Tae Kwon Do (Korean martial arts) at the age of 10 to 15 all still in Puerto Rico. Later in 2006 she moved to New York with her mother and siblings. In New York she doing for a time the musical theater school City Lights where she was ready to present the musical of Pippin, not able to complete it due to school schedule interfering with the classes, she chose to keep studying so that she could graduate on time. Therefore she doing the Gymnastics team of the school in John F. Kennedy, but it was until she went to Hostos Community College that she was able to express her artistic skills and speak of her passion to Professor Sonia Maldonado providing her the opportunity to create a book for a class project, which she helped illustrate and edit the content of such book. Around the same time Odesk was opening opportunities for freelancers, Angelica got an iPad and started illustrating children's book in Odesk, later in Elance and now Upwork where she has a ranking of the top artists with a 96% client satisfaction. Currently, she has all the professional tools and experience needed to create the most beautiful illustrations for any author or her self.


In 2011 she learned about The Academy of Art University and she quickly discovered that this was the college of her dreams she could study what she really feels deep passion for, which is animated series and films. Due to monetary difficulties she put a pause on the AAU and continued her Early Childhood Education studies at Hostos Community College. Angelica acquired an Associates Science Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2016, and in 2017 she decided to continue her current online studies from New York towards a BA degree in Animation and Visual Effects with a focus on 2D traditional animation at the Academy of Art University located in San Francisco, California.
